I had also bought a cabbage at the farmer's market over last weekend and didn't really know what to do with it. I sliced it up and boiled it in beef base, along with a few carrots I had left over from Miller's Farms. It was very simple and tasty. Reminded me of fall. Tonight we're having corn from Olathe Sweet Corn in Olathe, CO. The corn festival is this weekend and I so wish we could go!!!
I am going to miss the farmer's markets after the summer is over. What am I going to do!!?? I am looking into doing a CSA for next year, that would be so wonderful to support the local farmer's up front and get 'goody bags' of surprise fruits and veggies weekly. Stay cool this weekend. It's going to 100 here again. Ugh! We need a break from the heat.

Looks like a great meal! I suspect rice doesn't grow well in Colorado. I found a local source here in Iowa but as far as I can tell they're the only ones who even try.
That looks yummy!
